Bal Gangadhar Tilak

(1856–1920) was a prominent Indian nationalist, teacher, and social reformer who played a key role in India’s independence movement. Known as ‘Lokmanya Tilak,’ he was among the first leaders to demand complete self-rule (Swaraj) for India. His famous declaration, “Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it,” inspired millions. Tilak used newspapers and public festivals like Ganesh Utsav to unite people and spread nationalist ideas. He also contributed to education and social reform. His leadership laid the foundation for future freedom movements. Tilak remains a symbol of courage, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to India’s independence.
