C. V. Raman
(1888–1970) was an Indian physicist who made groundbreaking contributions to the study of light scattering. He is best known for discovering the Raman Effect, which explains how light changes wavelength when it passes through a medium. This discovery earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930, making him the first Asian to win a science Nobel. Raman’s work laid the foundation for Raman spectroscopy, widely used in scientific research today. He was deeply committed to scientific education and research in India. C. V. Raman’s legacy continues to inspire scientists and students worldwide.
