Diogenes

(c. 412–323 BCE) was an ancient Greek philosopher and one of the founders of Cynicism. Known for his unconventional lifestyle, he rejected materialism and social norms, advocating for a life of simplicity and virtue. Diogenes often used satire and provocative behavior to challenge societal values and expose hypocrisy. His famous encounter with Alexander the Great, where he asked the king to ‘stand out of my sunlight,’ reflects his independence and wit. Diogenes’s philosophy continues to influence discussions on minimalism, authenticity, and the critique of societal conventions.
