(c. 470–399 BCE) was an ancient Greek philosopher considered one of the founders of Western philosophy. He is known for the Socratic method, which involves questioning to stimulate critical thinking. Socrates focused on ethics, knowledge, and virtue. His teachings influenced Plato and Aristotle. Though he left no written works, his ideas continue to shape philosophy and education.
