Bal Gangadhar Tilak
(1856–1920) was a prominent Indian nationalist, teacher, and social reformer who played a key role in India’s independence movement. Known as ‘Lokmanya Tilak,’ he was among the first leaders to demand complete self-rule (Swaraj) for India. His famous declaration, “Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it,” inspired millions.
