Nelson Mandela

(1918–2013) was a South African revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who served as the first Black president of South Africa. He played a central role in ending apartheid and promoting reconciliation. Mandela spent 27 years in prison before leading negotiations for a democratic South Africa.
